WELCOME TO KAPNICK ORCHARDS

We have had a productive winter and spring since we have seen many of you.  We have been asked many times what we do in the orchard during the winter, well we prune our apple trees.  We start pruning around Thanksgiving and we finish up in late March.  April is planting month for us at the orchard and we planted many trees this spring.  We now have 300 more peaches and nectarine trees, 100 more blueberry bushes and over 700 new apple trees!  We planted more Honey Crisp apples and new this year Granny Smith apples.

Our crops look very good again this year.  We had a fair sweet cherry crop but due to all the frost & freeze damage on our lower limbs we are not able to offer Pick Your Own.  We are currently picking tart cherries and they are available in our store and at our Farm Markets.  We will be opening up Pick Your Own Blueberries on July 16th and the price is $2.00/pound.  Our Peach crop looks great and we will be offering Pick Your Own in early August for Red Havens, other varieties will follow through out the month of August.

Fall is our busiest time of year and this year it looks great.  We were very lucky this spring with our apple crop.  Our crop survived many of the frost & freeze events that hit Michigan.  The state crop is projected to be only 75% of a normal crop.  We will have all of our usually varieties available for picking we will update you on our apples as it gets closer.
